Iris Marie Sojer, born in Hanover in 1990, had her first piano lessons when she was five. At eight she joined the renowned Hanover Girls’ Choir, which allowed her to go on international concert tours and take soloistic tasks.

She received her first singing lessons with Prof. Gudrun Schröfel.

During the current season 2017/18 at Nationaltheater Mannheim, the mezzosoprano will be debuting in roles such as Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Tisbe (La Cenerentola), Mélisande (Pelléas und Mélisande), Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana), 2nd Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Clotilde (Norma) and Laura (Jolanthe).

At fourteen she had her debut on the opera stage in the role of the 2nd Boy in Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute’ at the Staatsoper Hannover. 

After finishing school, Iris Marie Sojer went on to do her Bachelor's degree at the University of the Arts in Berlin with Prof. Elisabeth Werres.

During this time, she gathered further stage experience in July 2014 in the role of Negresse Dinah in Bohuslav Martinu’s ‘Les trois souhaits’, directed by Prof. Frank Hilbrich at the University of the Arts.

Since October 2015, Iris Marie Sojer is a student of Prof. Christiane Iven while doing a Master's in Song (Liedgestaltung) at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich.

In May 2016 she could be seen portraying the role of Female Chorus in Benjamin Britten’s opera ‘The Rape of Lucretia’ (conducted by Ulrich Nicolai, directed by Waltraud Lehner).

Since the 2016/17 season, Iris Marie Sojer is a member of the opera studio at Nationaltheater Mannheim, where she took on roles like Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor), Sandmännchen (Hänsel und Gretel), 2nd Maid (Elektra), Silvia (L'isola disabitata) and Marzelline (Il barbiere di Siviglia). among others.

 

Furthermore, she had a guest engagement as 3rd Lady at Konzert Theater Bern in Mozart’s ‘Die Zauberflöte',
